Mental Conditioning for peak performance at Carson Newman College

A program of the Men's soccer team.
Soccer at it's best, mentally possible, literally, is the challenge. The team started a program thanks to the help of my advisor, Dr Blevins, and the Family enrichment institute, aimed to help the athlete's performance and their general well-being, keeping in mind that one relates directly with the other. Also, I have received the help of the Counseling services who authorized my program and provided excellent guidance on the topic. Other important resource was the material Coach Jean Love made available. Her expertise in Sports Psychology has been of great importance too. I adopted the one on one approach since conversations related to oneself are easier to remember than other methods for some people. The aim is to help our soccer players improve their individual performance and have positive influences on the team. Players have dedicated time outside of practice for this project and seem to enjoy it and understand its value. The first session consists of a background part and a goal setting educational section. Players appreciates when someone wants to hear their story in soccer. Some players have set really high standards and see this season as a real chance to win a National title. They know their level will take them far if they keep up the focus and dedication . The technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects are constantly reviewed and develop by the coaching staff who understands all the preparation and commitment needed for such success. Certainly this program will give us another edge.
